AiDren vs Lakera

AiDren and Lakera Guard both screen LLM prompts for injection. Lakera Guard is a specialised detection API, and Check Point announced its acquisition of Lakera in September 2025. AiDren is a self-serve proxy with public pricing that also scans responses, model files and agent egress. Choose Lakera for detection depth and enterprise support, AiDren for all-in-one, one-line setup.

This page compares the two head-to-head, including where Lakera is genuinely ahead. Lakera is a trademark of Lakera AI (a Check Point company), referenced here for identification and comparison only — AiDren is not affiliated with Lakera or Check Point.

✓ Covered / an advantage ~ Partial or varies – Not covered

The short version: Lakera's injection detection is a strong, dedicated product. If that's the only risk you're covering, it's a fair choice. AiDren adds output scanning, model-file scanning and agent egress in the same request path, self-serve, with public pricing.

Where Lakera is genuinely ahead

We'd rather you knew this than found out after signing up.

  • Dedicated detection research. Lakera publishes detection benchmarks and language coverage (100+ languages claimed) built on a large, specialised threat-research effort. AiDren doesn't publish a benchmark number we can't independently back.
  • Backed by Check Point's platform. If you're already a Check Point customer, or need SIEM/SOC integration at that scale, Lakera now sits inside a much larger security estate.
  • Enterprise support & SLAs. Large organisations with a procurement process and a dedicated security function are exactly who Lakera's enterprise tier is built for.

Lakera alternatives: how to choose

If you are weighing Lakera Guard against other options, four questions usually decide it.

  • How do you want to integrate? Lakera Guard is an API: your code calls it to screen content, then calls the model. AiDren is a proxy: you change the base URL and screening happens on the way to the provider.
  • What do you need besides injection detection? If detection is the whole job, a dedicated detector is a fair choice. If you also want response scanning, model-file scanning and agent egress reporting, check whether those sit in the same product or are a separate purchase.
  • How transparent is the price? Lakera's pricing page lists a free Community plan (10,000 requests a month) and an Enterprise plan arranged with sales. AiDren's three plans are public, at £49, £149 and £399 a month, with a 14-day free trial and no card.
  • Who will support you? Lakera's Enterprise plan is built for sales-led buying. AiDren is run by one person, a UK sole trader, with support by email. For some teams that is a feature and for others a deal-breaker.

Choose Lakera Guard if you want a dedicated detection vendor with a larger research effort, or you already buy from Check Point. Choose AiDren if you want injection screening plus response, model-file and egress coverage in one self-serve product with a public price. Either way, test with your own prompts: the free attack test takes about 20 seconds.

Switching from Lakera Guard

I have not migrated a real Lakera integration, so treat this as the shape of the change rather than a guarantee. A cautious order of work:

  • Step 1. Start a trial, add your upstream provider key and create a proxy key.
  • Step 2. Point your SDK's base URL at https://api.aidren.co.uk and use the proxy key. Request bodies stay the same.
  • Step 3. Set the key to monitor mode. AiDren still screens every request but logs what it would block and forwards it, so you can compare its decisions with what Lakera flags today.
  • Step 4. When the decisions look right, switch the key to enforce and remove the separate screening call from your code.

Detection models differ, so expect different decisions on edge cases. Keep both running side by side until you trust the result.

AiDren vs Lakera FAQ

Is AiDren a Lakera Guard alternative?

For runtime prompt-injection screening, yes: both screen prompts before they reach a model, and AiDren also scans responses, model files and agent egress. It does not match everything Lakera offers. Lakera has a larger dedicated detection-research effort and an Enterprise plan with sales-led support.

Is Lakera still independent?

Check Point announced an agreement to acquire Lakera on 16 September 2025 and said it expected the deal to close in the fourth quarter of 2025. I have not checked whether it has closed, so confirm with Lakera.

How much does Lakera Guard cost?

Lakera's pricing page lists a free Community plan with 10,000 requests a month and an Enterprise plan arranged with sales (last checked 1 October 2026). AiDren's plans are £49, £149 and £399 a month, with a 14-day free trial.

Is there a self-serve alternative to Lakera Guard?

AiDren is self-serve: sign up, add an upstream key and change your base URL, with no sales call. Lakera also lets you start on a free Community plan without a call; Enterprise features go through sales.
